Faircity Roodevallei in Pretoria has a new General Manager. Adriaan Liebetrau describes the hospitality industry to be his first love, distinctly remembering building hotels out of wooden tomato crates as a child. Having previously worked for Tsogo Sun, the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry, Travel with Flair, Peermont Hotels and Protea Hotels, Adriaan is an expert in his field.
Recognised for his excellence in the hospitality industry, Adriaan was the recipient of CEO Global’s Titans Building Nations Award for the Tourism and Leisure Sector in South Africa as well as the Southern African Development Community South and Africa continental winner for the most influential person in 2015. He has travelled to over 20 counties in the last 4 years, representing South Africa’s Business Events Industry globally and assisting the Botswana, Ethiopia and Zambian Governments with their Business Tourism Strategies. Ever the perfect host, Adriaan loves entertaining, hosting dinner parties and collecting antiques. This cultured manager enjoys décor and design, theatre and is also a wine, whiskey and Champagne connoisseur.
When asked what he loves the most about hospitality his love for people becomes clear, listing an entire paragraph. “I love creating memories for people. The small child that laughs with joy when their food arrives. The couple that say “I do” as they start their lives together. The family that saved all year for that holiday and finally get to lie next to the pool, relax and do nothing. The CEO that delivers that important speech and later that night celebrates with his team. I am passionate about inspiring people every day. I am also very enthusiastic about education and training. Seeing the sparkle in a team member’s eyes when they’ve mastered a new trade. Receiving that message or call from a former team member letting you know what they’ve accomplished and how thankful they are that I pushed them to be better than the day before.”
Adriaan’s plans for Faircity Roodevallei reflect this passion, as he says “I want the hotel to be the embodiment of Faircity’s Service by Design ethos – everything we do must reflect this. It is seen in the picturesque setting of the hotel, a gorgeous bird sanctuary on the banks if the Pienaar’s River that provides the ultimate country escape on the footsteps of the Capital City, Tshwane. I have a vision of the hotel operating as a sustainable and green hotel in the coming years, reducing our carbon footprint by growing our own vegetables and herbs, recycling and creating more opportunities for the local community.”
