The Melrose Gallery is proud to present ‘Sugar Tax’, Mbongeni Buthelezi’s latest solo exhibition.

Mbongeni Buthelezi’s preferred medium is waste plastic, a material that if treated without the required care and management can cause much damage to our environment.  His chosen medium spawns from his fascination with the tensions created between the important functional role that plastic plays, and how the material can become such a dangerous threat to our planet if discarded without proper thought and planning.

Powerful Photographic Exhibition For Constitutional Hill | 18 May to 27 August 2017

Clint Strydom, in collaboration with Constitution Hill, and co-curator Gaisang Sathekge, will release a powerful new body of contemporary photographs on the Number 4 Prison Section in May 2017.

This exhibition titled ‘Hidden Shadows and Silent Voices of Prison Number 4’ will narrate the fascinating story of this nefarious prison. The Number 4 Prison Section was restricted to male prisoners and was home to Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Robert Sobukwe, Oliver Tambo and thousands of other people who were incarcerated here.

#ICYMI Strongbow Remixes Nature in the City with its Braamfontein Butterfly Effect!

An audience of cosmopolitan city dwellers were showered with 8000 origami butterflies on Saturday, 17 September 2016 at the official South African launch of Strongbow Apple Ciders at the popular Neighbourhoods Market in Braamfontein.

Like a cloudburst on a sunny day, the butterflies were unexpectedly released from a skyscraper above the crowd in what can best be described as a signature Strongbow stunt. With the belief that nature is the ultimate refreshment, Strongbow has embarked on a journey to stage innovative ways to use the refreshing beauty of nature to rejuvenate cities around the globe and refresh the people who live in them.
