The challenge for any young fashion designer is finding effective ways of getting their brands and clothes out into the marketplace & connect with consumers. Budweiser’s flagship cultural collaboration platform, BUDX, has found a solution. At its core, the platform, has a deep-felt purpose to elevate and assist the important talent and scenes in Mzansi right now. The platform seeks to encourage all culture creators to rise up and Be a King. In April Budweiser was proud to launch #BUDX by giving three young South African fashion designers; R.ich Factory, Ntando_XV and Otiz Seflo a platform to showcase and give their brands critical and positive exposure.

To kickstart the initiative, a series of fashion shows took place at the Kings of Music concert with all three designers showcasing their streetwear collections in an unconventional way. Party goers weren’t there to see a runway show. Instead, they had assembled at Shine Studios to take in #KingsOfFashion – a performance piece choreographed by the talented Michelle Openshaw and costumed by all three designers to showcase their craft.

“We are trying to create our own Prada’s and prove to South Africans that they don’t need to have tons money to look great. We as South African designers are just as gifted and we can make people look good in their true African street-style/leisure looks,” said founder of R.ich Factory, Rina Chunga.

Not only were the designers’ clothes on full display for partygoers to get a glimpse of, adoring fans also got an opportunity to snap a few photos next to the exquisite designs. All three designers were elated to have received an opportunity to showcase their collection on such a huge platform, something other aspiring designers could only ever dream of.
