Tshepang Ramoba Presents: SEŠATE Is A New Musical Offering

Tshepang Ramoba is one of the most influential musicians in South Africa, his footprint can be seen across various artists and dates back to 12 years ago, when he started making music. Tshepang has received accolades for his artistry during his music career and is revered as one of the best composers by his peers. Even though Ramoba has had an illustrious career, it is only now that he is releasing solo music. On 8 August, following the release of his new EP SEŠATE, Ramoba is set to introduce himself to South African audience with music that aims to invoke feelings of nostalgia.

The music on SEŠATE  is a reimagined take on loved African folk stories told over alternative rock instrumentals, which give room for a new audience to be engulfed in Ramoba’s messaging.

Africa is home to many legendary folk tales that have laid foundation to many cultural teachings. Even though these folk stories differ from each culture, there’s always a common thread that is similar and relatable. Through Tshepang’s new EP, audience are reintroduced to authentic folk stories told his in native language SEŠATE (Sepedi).

Ramoba had this to say: “With my band Music has taught me my language and culture. To know my culture and language inspires me to make more music which also guarantees more knowledge due to research of the Bapedi people and culture (We are Africans).”

Tshepang is set to launch SEŠATE at Untitled in Braamfontein on August 8, an evening collaborating with talented production designer Honey Makwakwa who will transform the venue to a true visualisation of the music’s theme.

The EP will be available on all music platforms for audience to purchase.

About Tshepang:

RMBO (born Tshepang Ramoba) is a drummer, vocalist, producer and film music supervisor from Johannesburg South Africa. He is a member of the alternative band BLK JKS

RMBO began his music career at a high school detention session. One day the detention teacher was absent and the detainees were sent to the contemporary music after school class. He later studied toward a diploma in African Music and Jazz at FUBA and also completed a diploma in sound engineering from the same institution.

Ramoba abandoned his post graduate music studies at TUT when his band BLK JKS embarked on their first world tour.
