The New And Improved Belladonna Night Shade Gin

After a very ‘berry troublesome’ 2019, West Coast Distillers’ Belladonna Nightshade Gin is back and better than ever.

2019 saw an entire crop of berries being lost to a hail storm, and the loss of all the frozen berry stock when the freezer’s compressor broke during ‘loadshedding’.  Sadly, a very limited number of bottles of Belladonna made it to the shelves in 2019.

Since then farmers have managed to harvest and supply the makers of this delicious tipple with plenty of Nightshade Berries, as well as some back up frozen stock. Determined to make a great thing better, the first thing WCD did was increase the infusion – more berries, more flavour and more colour!

Part of the new focus has been to increase the shelf life of Belladonna’s unique natural colour and the colour explosion that happens when tonic is added.  Because there are no artificial colourants or chemicals in the gin, all the colour comes naturally from the berries themselves. Nature can sometimes prove challenging but Shane & Shaun from West Coast Distillers were up for it.  They have enjoyed experimenting with many different options including natural tannins and dry ice production and bottling methods. The fun they’ve had translates to a great drink in your glass.
We invite you to try the new 2020 Belladonna Nightshade Gin and let the taste and colour experience speak for itself! West Coast Distillers is open for tastings for just R100pp. The experience includes a fully interactive tasting by the distillers, 8 taster drinks with garnish and cocktail bitters guidance, and a distillery tour.

To book your tasting at West Coast Distillers (Langebaan) you can contact Shane on Info@wcdistiller.com.  Belladonna Night Shade Gin can be purchased from The Gin Guy for R349.00.
