Strawberry Lips Takes Over Durban With Sweet Beats

Strawberry Lips, a brand synonymous with the women empowerment narrative, has for years been at the forefront of supporting women in the music scene- particularly the club DJ.  What has for decades been a male dominated profession and industry as a whole is now morphing, largely due to female DJ’s making their presence known, felt and respected. The rise and rise of female DJ’s has seen the birth of heavy weights who have, in turn, paved the way for upcoming talents with aspirations within the music field.

The Sweet Beats Durban Sistas
Strawberry Lips has hand picked 12 ladies that have created names for themselves in the music and nightlife scene and become forces to be reckoned with. Talents from Pretoria,  Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg will be coming together to celebrate sisterhood through sound. These leading ladies in the campaign include women from all walks of life with one thing in common- the love for music.

3 of Durban’s most loved DJ’s were picked by Strawberry Lips to represent the Durban Sweet Beats Sistas. These Durban Sweet Beats Sistas are DJ Cndo, Carly O and DJ Happygal.

DJ Cndo

Sindiwe Zungu is a South African female House DJ and two time Metro FM award winner. She’s best known for being the first female DJ to sign with Afrotainment and her iconic first album, Finest Lady of House Volume 1.

Carly O

The second Sweet Beats Durban ambassador is pink haired DJ and producer Carly O. Her image is a direct representation of her personality and music – energetic, artistic and iconic. Carly O is a versatile DJ who specialises in Deep House, Bass, EDM, Hip Hop/Trap and Afro & Gqom.

DJ Happygal

Last but not least, DJ Happy Gal joins to complete the triad of Durban Sweet Beats Sistas. She is one of the leading female DJs to break out of Durban, with her career taking her all over the world. Her hard work is testament to her love of all things dance music related and one of the reasons she continues to be at the forefront in today’s music dance scene. Happy Gal specialises in House and Kwaito music, but with her vast knowledge and collection of music, she adapts her playlist to suit any gig.
