Spirits Rejoice Enhances The Message Of South Africa’s Top Gospel Artists

Apple Music’s Spirits Rejoice campaign gathered the best and brightest gospel voices to amplify times of joy through two exclusive playlists from Pietermaritzburg-born singer Dumi Mkokstad, who celebrates heaven’s perfect timing, and Durbanite Khaya Mthethwa, who champions the importance of divine light through dark times. Spirits Rejoice aimed to uplift and support the overarching message conveyed by these two singers during the month of April, with each exclusive playlist highlighting and amplifying specific songs of encouragement and praise from Benjamin Dube, Joyous Celebration, Ntokozo Mbambo, Hle, Xolie Mncwango, Takie Ndo, Bucy Radebe, SbuNoah, CeCe Winans, Tye Tribbett and more.

“As a songwriter, music producer and singer I love to listen to well-constructed songs, but most importantly songs that will impact and impart something, into either my life or someone else’s. I have seen these songs topping charts because people fell in love with them. On my inclusion in the Apple Music Spirits Rejoice campaign, I am highly grateful for this opportunity. Thank you so much, I am truly humbled by this gesture.” – Dumi  Mkokstad.

“This Apple Music playlist is one of my favourite jams at the moment!” Khaya Mthethwa told Apple Music. “These songs encourage me not to give up and give me a sense of God’s goodness in my life!”

As one of the most popular genres on the continent, African gospel is uplifting, rhythmic, and spiritual and the lyrics reflect diverse worldviews, theologies, cultures, and experiences of Africans from all backgrounds, a feat which is highlighted by Spirits Rejoice.
