Ami Faku’s Inde Lendlela is a song that has moved the nation and captures the simplicity and raw emotion of Eastern Cape’s South African Golden Voice. Inde Lendlela speaks to a longing love – “It is a song about being hurt by someone you loved and trusted. Even though they aren’t good for you, your heart is still yearning for them. But they don’t want anything to do with you because they feel like they can get something better elsewhere,” shares Ami Faku.

We caught up with Ami to find out on her big music milestone and here’s what she had to say:
What was going through your mind when you found out Inde Lendlela? I would assume when I found out it went gold? I was so proud and happy of how far I’ve come.
What was the inspiration being the song and what would you say your listeners found relatable about it or loved about it? They found my story very relatable because I am not pretending to be strong on the song. I am not afraid to admit that I was once chasing after a love that did not benefit me because I thought over time, they would treat me right and most people were in that situation.
Knowing that your music is appreciated so much by your listeners, what does this GOLD status mean for you as an artist? It means that the support is there in big numbers.
Paint a picture of your own journey in music. Being exposed to music, entering the industry and being where you are right now. It was not easy, and it still is not but through never giving up on my dreams and making sure my craft is great there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Congratulations again to Ami Faku
