The Lucky Specials is a feature-length edutainment film, directed by Rea Rangaka, which is set in a mining town in Southern Africa, where rock dust and cramped quarters expose workers to various risks such as HIV and Tuberculosis. It follows the lives of members of a small-time cover band dreaming of making it big in the music industry. When tragedy strikes, the band must find the strength to make their dreams become a reality. The Lucky Specials combines the best of fiction and non-fiction storytelling to demystify tuberculosis (TB), explaining how it spreads and how it can be treated.

The movie cast list includes some well-known television personalities such as Oros Mampofu (Mandla); Thomas Gumede (Sello); Linda Sebezo (Aunt Nomaliso Mdluli-Tlou); Blondie Makhene (Bra Easy); Sivenathi Mabuya (Nkanyiso); Fulu Mugovhani (Zwanga); and Richard Lukunku (Jose).

The Lucky Specials will represent more than just entertainment to millions of television viewers, as it shares critical lifesaving information by raising awareness to the effect that it’s possible to overcome diseases such as tuberculosis.
