SA House Music Masters Mi Casa, And Angolan Top Dog Anselmo Ralph, Collaborate On Coke Studio Africa 2017 Episode 5

Multi-award-winning band touted as one of the biggest acts to come out of South Africa’s music industry this decade, Mi Casa, is collaborating with undoubtedly one of the most successful Angolan artists, Anselmo Ralph, on Coke Studio Africa 2017’s fifth episode.

Hailing from Johannesburg, some of Mi Casa’s mega hits include ‘Jika’, ‘Get Through This’ with Yemi Alade and ‘Tulale Fofofo’ featuring Sauti Sol. The band has topped musical charts, scooped local and international awards and apart from the latest collaboration with Anselmo, Mi Casa has worked with some of Africa’s best artists.

Mi Casa recently unveiled their latest album “Familia” and directly after making their debut on Coke Studio Africa 2017, the band embarked on their tour to perform in Canada, Texas, Portugal and the UK, followed by a planned 2018 worldwide tour dubbed the “Legacy Tour”.

Speaking in an interview in Kenya, Mi Casa thanked Coke Studio Africa 2017 for driving collaborations among African artists. “Coke Studio Africa 2017 is no doubt the biggest platform currently uniting African artists from all forms of backgrounds and cultures. We were indeed excited to work with Angola’s star Anselmo Ralph and look forward to learning so much from him and hopefully, he from us.’’

Anselmo has a number of albums under his belt. His debut album “Stories of Love” (2006) brought him to the spotlight and received astounding recognition from fans. In the same year, he was named the Best RnB singer by South African Television Channel as well as Best Artist Africa at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Anselmo has gone on to release “The Last Stories of Love”(2007), “O Cupido”(2009),”A Dor Do Cupido”(2013), “O Melhor de Anselmo Ralph”(2014) and “AmorÉ Cego”(2016).

The widely celebrated artist has been a coach on The Voice, Angola since 2014 and in June 2015, Anselmo signed a global agreement with Sony Music Entertainment Spain, which has positioned his brand and music to international heights.

“Viewers can look forward to a mind-blowing episode this week. My collaboration with Mi Casa is one that will be talked about for months to come. We are promising our fans the ultimate entertainment in episode five,” Anselmo noted during an interview.

Ugandan legend Bebe Cool, and ultimate “bahd guy”, Falz from Nigeria, will bring in the fun On Coke Studio Africa’s Throwback’s segment, while up and coming star Bill Nass from Tanzania, is going to work with Ugandan wonder Sheebah, and Ethiopian maestro Asgegnew Ashko, in the week’s Big Break feature.

Shekhinah, AKA, Busiswa, Nasty C, Amanda Black and Mafikizolo are among the other top South African musicians featured on Coke Studio Africa 2017. Big name local producers include DJ Maphorisa, Sketchy Bongo and South Africa based Malawian producer, Gemini Major.
