Quelonke Brings The Hit Vibe With Kwaito Track Gumba Gumba

Sandile Zulu professionally known by his stage name Quelonke, is a South African DJ, music producer, music composer, songwriter and vocalist. Born and raised in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, his early love for music was fueled by famous South African musicians such as ProKid, Kabelo of TKZee, DJ Cleo and Chico Twala. His brand new single, now newly signed and released by Noz Productions is a vibey Kwaito Hit track called ‘Gumba Gumba’ Featuring Zolani G & Tee-R and is filled with the vibe and essence of what we have all come to know and love about Kwaito. Quelonke uses his music as a tool to express his thoughts, life experiences and opinions. Quelonke has been given the nickname “Qhawe of music beats” which translates to “a Hero of a music beats”. 

Gumba Gumba is a popular township slang for a big pumping sound, but in this song he refers to Gumba Gumba as a successful person and entrepreneur, who is passionate about helping others in a community where he or she comes from. In this song as community, we are happy, celebrating and having fun in our township through receiving assistance from “Gumba Gumba”.

As a record producer with a blend of Kwaito, Gqom, Amapiano, House music, Afropop and Hip pop, he has worked with and has received credits from several artists in his home province of KwaZulu Natal. In 2017, Quelonke won the Umgeni Music Awards (UMA) for best-hit song called my nunu [Shona Phansi] featuring T-man. In 2019, he produced DJ Twitty’s song called Lengane, which was well received in the South African music industry.

Quelonke has shared a stage with the likes of Kwesta Dakar, Heavy-K, DJ Bongz, DJ Cndo, DJ Sox, DJ Vuma and DJ Happygal.
