One of South Africa’s most revered Producers and DJ, Prince Kaybee – real name Kabelo Motsamai started making music and enjoying commercial success five years ago and it is by no surprise that he is the best to ever do it, his music speaks for itself. The Gugulethu hit-maker was born and bred in Botshabelo on the 15th June 1989.
An incredibly smart and well-read high school drop out with a relentless passion for music, he left home in his teen years, shortly after dropping out of school to pursue a music career. He had already impregnated a girl, lost his father, and was frustrated, he took off leaving an equally frustrated mother behind. Little did he know that leaving his mom’s couch would see him scrambling for a place to stay, for a good three years, Prince Kaybee was homeless, getting by with the help of friends he made in Bloemfontein and his club residency which paid him a mere R200 a night.
This multi award-winning star is releasing his new single Ayabulela featuring Sykes and Caiiro on Friday 12th June, just before his 31st birthday on the 15th through his recording company Lowkey Records.
A perfectionist and staunch believer in hard work, Prince Kaybee also happens to be shy to celebrate his accomplishments “I don’t celebrate my successes, I am always onto the next thing, I want to be better and be great at what I do. I would want to go on holiday with my partner but I will ruin it, I will want to work…”.
