Last week Philips South Africa made waves with their OneBlade Campaign which gave South African’s voting power of DJ roger Goode’s beard style. In an edgy campaign that aimed to introduce consumers to a new generation shaver that delivers almost any facial style with one single tool, listeners where invited to vote on the fate of Roger’s beard. Effective and comfortable on many skin and hair types the grooming tool allows users to trim, shave and edge any length of hair.
“Roger Goode is a man that boldly lives his life outside the box. Partnering with him allowed us to put the Oneblade to the test with an ambassador who won’t be afraid to get a little edgy & prove that the Philips OneBlade is the only one for your face! I think in today’s climate is was important for us to show and not tell the product’s offering. We wanted to create a human connection in the virtual world that we find ourselves today to engage our OneBlade audience,” says Ndungu Wanjohi – consumer marketing leader – Philips, Personal Health Africa.
“Even at the cost of my beard – I really enjoyed the experience! What was great about this campaign is that it was not just another campaign talking about how great a product is, but a live interaction that put the product to the test and our listeners in the driver’s seat,” says 5FM DJ, Roger Goode.
As part of the competition participants were placed into the draw via a microsite called LIVE on air by Roger Goode to win various cash prizes. Winners from the week where then placed into the draw for the grand prize of R30 000 and Keletso Maleka walked away as the overall winner of the competition.
