“The past 20 months have brought turmoil in our lives and we were all affected by the changes brought by the pandemic. With all that has transpired we are grateful to still be finding ways to give the best life-changing experiences to our customers through our sponsorship of this world-renowned ensemble”, says Nomsa Mazibuko, GM: Brand and Communications, MTN SA.
Dr Lindelani Mkhize, co-founding member of MTN Joyous Celebration comments, “It has indeed been quite some time since we hosted auditions, and we feel that the time is ripe to bring them back through this online platform in keeping with the times we live in. We thank our partner – MTN – for sharing and supporting our vision of developing and nurturing talent and growing this industry. Our fans, and aspirant musicians countrywide have called on us to bring back the auditions so they can have a chance to be a part of our remarkable ensemble. We have been listening and taking time to put mechanisms in place to do so in the best possible way and we are pleased to do so through the Share Your Light campaign. We look forward to receiving audition’s clips and taking young talent to greater heights.”
The Top 25 contestants as identified by the judges will be put to a public vote where the Top 10 finalists will battle it out for the ultimate prize. MTN and Joyous Celebration will provide these finalists with an intense three-day mentorship programme with the cast members, Joyous alumni, and Founders. “We are grateful for the partnership with the Joyous Celebration Foundation which enables MTN to live up to our objectives of supporting the development of South African music by being part of the search of finding the next gospel star and making dreams a reality. The judges are entrusted with the important task of identifying the stars from the pool of all hopefuls who have submitted their audition clips – we look forward to welcoming new talent to the MTN Joyous Celebration family”, concludes Nomsa.
