The 18th edition of the Moshito Music Conference and Exhibition will be taking place from the 08-11th of December 2021 at Joburg Theatre (Lesedi Theatre). This year’s theme: The Rebirth of African Music Business looks at reshaping the Music Discipline after the Covid-19 Pandemic, the music industry landscape, and the purpose that it has served as a powerful means of enhancing the country’s identity and distinctiveness, while simultaneously creating employment, developing human skills, and generating social capital and cohesion.
Moshito will welcome a variety of speakers ranging from artists and industry leaders to entrepreneurs, technology pioneers, digital influencers, and journalists into a continental discussion of our sector. Moshito key focus for 2021 is on creating a hybrid conference platform that will be used to educate our people about the new digital world practices, trade preparedness while we showcase 100% local artists, as part of the support stimulus to assist artists to keep alive in this trying times. A bold practice that they are very much proud about.
“We are proud to be celebrating our 18th year of existence as an international music conference and exhibition. As Moshito we always strive to put out the best conference experience in the continent and to celebrate our diverse culture and heritage through music. Our selection of this year ambassadors and the theme itself is always inspired by our past as a nation and our present as an industry, Mahotella Queens and Big Zulu are a perfect embodiment of that vision, last year we had ADV Steve Kekane (May his soul rest in peace) and the multi-award winner “Queen” Makhadzi. We believe in celebrating greatness and that’s all that drives us as a conference, to select the best deserving talent” says Stanley Khoza, Moshito chairperson.
As part of our commitment to development in uncovering talent and creating market exposure, we are also giving aspiring musicians an opportunity to perform/showcase on our various showcase stages, a platform that creates and help our artists achieve international opportunities and recognition. What is exciting to note as we celebrate our 18th year is that Moshito Music Conference and exhibition remains the highest music industry employer of choice through the conference, last year we employed over 480 artists and this year our record target is 750 – 1000 working opportunities for our artists. The Conference as usual is attended by music industry experts such as booking agents, A&R Managers for record labels, CMO’s, festivals and concert directors from all over the world. We believe that the platform given to emerging talent in our various platforms is an opportunity that every aspiring musician should take advantage of, which is to present their craft in front of industry decision-makers from across the continent. This year we have the following events Demo presentations, Afroworldnigt, Moshito street festival and conferencing.
”We would like to thank all the music industry organised formations and Moshito Partners, for the 2021 edition who will be announced at the conference launch. Our unified partnerships with all of the partners are what makes Moshito a much-anticipated premier Music conference in Africa” says Stanley Khoza, Moshito Chairperson.
