Gone are the days where media platforms just offer content to readers. The way people consume content these days has changed significantly due to the influence of the digital age – which has forced the media industry to shift drastically (from print to online). With the focus now on online news consumption, online media platforms either need to find a niche market to share their news or find other ways to differentiate themselves from every other news platform. Le’Afrinique, an online news platform with a heart for Music & Arts is doing exactly that. Established formally in 2017, the platform has been known to share news that relates to the Arts, Entertainment and Urban Culture spaces. They are now taking this a step further and opening performance opportunities for emerging artists in Music & Art.
…Introducing the #LASquad Sessions by Le’Afrinique!
The #LASquad Sessions is a value-add service offered by the platform and is currently running at for the 2020 Photobooth Party events. This is a session where the platform is allocated showcasing time for emerging artists of their choice to perform at an allocated time by the event organiser. As a big advocate for Music, they will start the first session with chosen artists RnB singing sensation Lucille Slade and RnB Gita Tony X. Lucille Slade and Tony X are musicians the platform has featured on their platform as well as #LALovesMusic playlists on SoundCloud and they will be sharing the platform to showcase their talent at the upcoming Photobooth Party featuring talented photographer Austin Malema.
“We came on board as a media partner for the upcoming Photobooth Party and were offered the opportunity to activate by the founder Lebo Mashigo. Music is the one thing we promote heavily on the platform and it made sense to open the opportunity to artists we believe in. Lucille and Tony have been our favourite emerging artists and having them together like this just makes musical sense. We’re still in the early stages of exploring this activation part of the platform and we plan to carry it on to plug other artists in the Music & Art industry” says Founder and Editor-in-Cool, Selloane Maletsatsi Moleli. “I’m also particularly excited about these artists… we hope a collaboration could really spark from this experience”, she concludes.
The Photobooth is back again on Saturday the 7th of March 2020 at Dassler’s Braamfontein with yet another exciting edition featuring nation’s most loved photographers Austin Malema. For this upcoming Photobooth Party, guests will have their photo taken by Austin Malema himself, because #EveryoneDeservesAnAustinMalemaPhoto. Event Organiser Lebo Mashigo mentioned that she is particularly excited about the next event, as she will be working with Austin Malema again in a different and exciting space. Here, guests are offered a unique and unforgettable socializing experience which allows them to have their portrait taken by one of their favs. This will be done over some drinks and well-curated music by some of Johannesburg’s finest DJs LeloWhatsGood, Mam’Thug, Sis’Madlisa and Kat Upendi.
