I took 2 years to write the album. 20 hours a day, everyday. I worked in my own studio at home. Did all my own backing vocals. And I produced the album. I then after went to Bamako to work with Salif Keita and his team. And Salif produced it further #LeAfrinique #LAchats

Usikhonzile is my wish for my continent. That we would have empathetic leaders that put us first, and not their own interests. And yes I had someone in mind. But that is neither here nor there

It truly is magical how it happened. Universal’s former AnR, Themba Mgcina and I were brainstorming ideas for a co producer. I asked him if we could arrange a feature of Salif Keita. He said how about we get him to co produce the album rather. And then he made it happen

Bamako was meant to be released early last year. There has been many frustrating postponements. They were all for a good reason. The delays did work on my mental health as they affected my pocket as well. But God’s time is not our time. Kuzoba mnandi #PostLockdown #Lenafrique

I do believe that 4IR is the future – and perhaps the pandemic will push us in that direction. Digital makes the world smaller. So @UMGSA, what do you say?
