Fête De La Musique Is Back And Is Calling Musicians To Apply To Perform

The Fête de la Musique (or World Music Day) is a popular and free music festival that has been taking place each year in France, internationally and in South Africa since 2010. In Johannesburg, it has become a great platform for both renowned and upcoming talents to make themselves known. Many local and international artists have taken part in the event throughout the years and contributed to its success, including Samthing Soweto, Vaudou Game, Nakhane, Blk Jks, Urban Village, BCUC, Baenz Oester and the Rainmakers, Bombshelter beast, and Msaki.

Perform at the hippest free music festival in Joburg!

As with many other live events in 2020, the Fête de la Musique couldn’t happen last year. In 2021, the Fête de la Musique is back in full force with a new and exciting set-up! The festival will now take place in five different venues, in different neighbourhoods of Johannesburg and Soweto, on the same day: Saturday 19th June from morning until late. This will allow more intimate concerts, with smaller crowds while continuing to celebrate free music for all to enjoy.
Therefore, we are calling for musicians, DJs and bands from all music genres, amateur and professional, to apply to perform in this year’s festival and join in the spirit of the Fête de la Musique.

The Fête de la Musique Joburg is brought to you by the French Institute of South Africa and the Alliance Française of Johannesburg in partnership with Bassline Live and Newtown Junction. It is made possible by the continuous support of TOTAL South Africa to the arts.

Are you part of a music band? Are you a DJ? A singer? Don’t wait! Send your application to get the opportunity to perform live at Fête de la Musique.
