Dave Jayie is a young, up and coming pop star who hails from Limpopo. He is a singer, songwriter and producer whose single Winning in 2020, was featured on New Hip Hop on Apple Music. He has been honing his sound and taking a turn to have fun in the studio with Tyler ICU and legendary vocal powerhouse Judith Sephuma. Roba is the result! Roba is influenced by Pop, Afrobeats with a strong Amapiano beat and base that screams South Ah. We can’t deny the Amapiano wave and influence which is why Roba is a feel-good jam for summer! Roba is about having a good time, no sleep and making the most of the present moment. If Covid-19 has taught us anything it is to take nothing for granted and to live fully.
Dave Jayie is excited about his new music direction and collaborating with people he looks up to in the music game.
“Working with Tyler ICU in the studio was an amazing experience, he currently holds the number one song in the country so I was honoured, I was going back and forth with Reason (Sizwe Alkine) on the idea of the song, I played him the demo and he liked it, we ended up writing and finishing the song in just one day. He is a true master at that (Songwriting) but the song didn’t feel complete until we brought on Miss Judith Sephuma. I was star-struck the minute she walked into the studio,” he beams.
Collaborating with the hottest producer and DJ, Tyler ICU; Dave Jayie’s smooth vocals with powerful Judith Sephuma is pure gold.
I think we’ve just crowned the new Pedi Prince with this one!
Roba is available now on major streamlining platforms for download.
