Creative Nestlings Introduces First Book “What It Takes!” #YoungAfricanCreatives

Introducing Creative Nestlings’ first book – ‘What it Takes!’ – a compilation of advice from #YoungAfricanCreatives who have proven that they have what it takes to pursue the creative life.

The book offers key insight from some of the continents most talented creatives across multiple disciplines. ‘What it Takes!’ provides an African perspective to what it really takes for ideas to become reality.

Over the years, Creative Nestlings has had over 100 young African creatives speak at our staple event series #ConversationsOnCreativity – (as documented in Mail & GuardianImprint LabFin 24IOLOkayAfrica and Expresso).

Through these intimate gatherings, they have met their peers that they have easily labelled creative & business heroes, champions & leaders – because of the knowledge and experiences they had to share.

This foray into the publishing world is a continuation of the conversations with those everyday heroes, immortalised for others. ‘What it Takes!’ is a book dedicated to inspiring others from the triumphing stories of these working creatives.

Each page is filled with invaluable lessons, necessary advice and inspirational quotes from 60+ creatives & entrepreneurs. *In* it, readers will learn the lessons from sustainability, how to fail beautifully and keep pushing forward – and much more.

The book, curated by dillion s. phiri and designed by Musonda Kabwe & Samuel, gives a glimpse into the thoughts and ideas of creative individuals from diverse backgrounds; Itumeleng Solar Modise on investing in your energy account, Anelisa Mangcu on starting, Andile Buka on bringing life to your work, Tiisetso Molobi aka urbanmosadi on the business of creativity, Nereya Otieno on pacing yourself through self doubt, Gareth Pon on finding your voice, Sindiso Nyoni on putting in the work, Maneo Mohale on the elusion of perfection, Rendani Nemakhavhani on collaboration and Atang Tshikare on success as a fantasy.
