Sharing her thoughts on the show Candice says, “Shooting Style Squad was truly such a rewarding experience. It’s beautiful to see how fearless young creatives are and further reminds me of how unapologetic I used to be before I let the world’s opinions inform what my art looks and sounds like.”
Each week participants will compete against each other by completing various design-related activities, that will test their creativity and fashion knowledge. The top 2 designers (one boy, one girl) will design their own ranges, under the guidance of leading industry buyers and trends specialists, which will then go to retail at Ackermans stores nationwide later this year.
Apart from the exposure on the Style Squad TV show, all 10 finalists will each receive an R2 500 Ackermans clothing voucher, a Style Squad hamper valued at R1 000 and the title of the Style Squad 2019 finalists.
Additional to their own clothing range, each of the two winners will receive R10 000 cash, R10 000 educational policy, R5 000 for each of their schools and a professional photoshoot in their range.
Marketing Specialist at Ackermans, Tanya Ruiters, says, “We found that most opportunities for young people are academic or sports-related, so it’s great to drive an initiative that speaks to the creatively orientated child.”
2019 was a bittersweet year for the actress, having landed a role on Mzansi Magic’s Impilo: The Scam, partnered with the Surf Laundry SA Mentorship Program and later announcing the end of a very memorable and impactful chapter in her acting career. After 3 years of being on the show and gracing the screens of millions of viewers every day, the actress announced her exit from SABC 1’s Generations: The Legacy in November. Thanking her followers, supporters and fans of the show for their unwavering support throughout her journey as Lerato, the actress promised to leave no stone unturned in her creative journey.
Remaining tight-lipped about her upcoming plans, fans can look forward to seeing Candice back on screens, sooner rather than later, on a role that promises to be her biggest one yet as it will bring international exposure.
