MTN Joyous Celebration will add one more member to the choir through South Africa’s first online Talent Search. This initiative invites hopeful musicians, MTN Joyous Celebration supporters and fans to download the ayoba app on their cellphones and share the light that could bring their dreams to life. The talent search competition went live on Sunday, 31 October and will run until December 2021, with the announcement of the winner. “We are excited about the launch of this initiative which could change the lives of MTN customers and Joyous Celebration fans who have always aspired to be a part of the choir. MTN prides itself in being a supporter of South African talents and connecting customers to their passion,” says Nomsa Mazibuko, General Manager: Brand and Communication at MTN SA.
“Our premise this summer is that we should Go Big Go Bozza by giving our customers bold and compelling experiences – this talent search seeks to further this commitment, concludes Mazibuko.
Entrants must use exclusive tracks on the MTN Joyous Celebration album on ayoba to audition. “We have made the entry process as easy as possible. Hopefuls need only download the ayoba app on their phone and subscribe to the MTN Joyous Celebration channel, record themselves singing one of the exclusive songs and submit their entry. You then stand a chance to become the newest member of the choir”, Mazibuko stated.
All entries received will be vetted by the Joyous Celebration Foundation to ensure that they meet the standard required to be a part of this gospel powerhouse. MTN and Joyous Celebration will select the top 25 songs which will be made available on the JoyousTV platform, allowing the public to listen to them to be able to then vote for their favourite contestants on the ayoba platform.
The Top 25 contestants will then be taken down to the Top 10 finalists who will battle it out for the top spot in the final selection. MTN and Joyous Celebration will provide these finalists with an intense three-day mentorship programme with the cast members, Joyous alumni, and Founders. This will allow the MTN Joyous Celebration Founders an opportunity to have closer interaction with them. In addition, the Top 10 finalists will record five songs with MTN Joyous Celebration that will be included in the MTN Joyous Celebration exclusive album on ayoba. Proceeds from these songs will go towards CSI initiatives that form part of the MTN Joyous Celebration 25 anniversary.
