Joburg Theatre, in partnership with Afrocentric Agency, will stage Picnic in the Park Concert with the multi-award winning and double platinum-selling group, The Soil, on 6 December. The event kick starts a series of Picnic in the Park type concerts, at Joburg Theatre Gardens, in Braamfontein. The park, spread out in front of the iconic theatre, has an inviting green scenery which presents a perfect environment for family-type cultural activities and art in open spaces events.
“We are excited that we end what has been a difficult year with an event that brings together families and friends, enjoying good food and great music”, said Joburg Theatre CEO, Xoliswa Nduneni-Ngema. Xoliswa said Joburg Theatre has planned a series of amazing events in the park that will cater to diverse tastes and preferences of the City’s citizens and outside visitors.
Dr Sipho Sithole, of Afrocentric Agency, the producer of Picnic in the Park Concert Series, said; “This event is just one of many events we have identified and have planned with Joburg Theatre. We are already planning Orchestra in the Park for the first quarter of 2021, and other innovative events into the year”. Sithole also stated the event is also made possible by the contribution of technical partners such as CMP and WatchaTV, and Native Rhythms Productions.
The event will also be supported by guest artists, Khokho Madlala, Shade, and Msera Msakazy.
All COVID-19 protocols will be adhered to with limited capacity, Gates will open at 10 am.
