Also DJing during the festivities will be Cape Tonian The Alvhinator.

AFROPUNK Presents Battle of The Bands competition aims to discover local musical talent with potential to challenge the status quo. In addition to sharing the stage with world class headlining acts at AFROPUNK Joburg, One Winning Artist will walk away with various prizes valued at R15 000, at the end of the events series. The top 16 bands will compete in a series of events taking place from 18 November – 03 December, with the final round taking place on December 14 in Johannesburg. Check out all the bands HERE.

is a weekend-long celebration of DIY culture within the festival; a thoughtfully curated marketplace showcasing the best and brightest craftspeople from the local maker community. Goods range from one of a kind and unique jewelry, natural beauty products, bespoke accessories and apparel, housewares, books, affordable art and much more. Aside from the AFROPUNK Vintage Zionist SA Fashion Week collaboration range, African brands that will be on sale at Constitution Hill are the clothing labels Dope Store, Wawi Ethiopia, Zulumienand Imprint ZA, plus jewelry brand Nutcase Acts. Hair and cosmetics are in the mix too: The Perfect Hair, Akan Organics, Hanahana Beauty and Boho Hippie Henna.

is an interactive, educational, site-specific installation featuring grassroots and nonprofit organizations that solve urgent community problems. With the help of nonprofits, organizations and social and political movements, Activism Row is an opportunity for young people to be informed about different civic participation. It also encourages festival-goers to make a difference in their community (and the world) by supporting social innovations. Activism Row is presented by our partners at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation South Africa, a global non-profit HIV/AIDS organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to more than 824,000 people in 38 countries.
