Get Your Barbie FIX: Once A Barbie Girl, Always A Barbie Girl!

If you thought Barbie was just for little girls, think again! The iconic fashion brand has teamed up with The FIX to create an exclusive range specifically designed for the urban fashionista.

The range – which was designed in-house by the stylish team at The FIX, in collaboration with Blue Horizon Licensing – includes a selection of on-trend t-shirts, bodysuits and sweats, in Barbie’s signature pink, black and white.

The FIX is a Foschini Group brand, with 191 stores nationwide, offering hot on-point fashion to slay your looks at affordable prices. The Barbie x The FIX collab can be found in selected stores nationwide.

This is the first time the Barbie brand has been extended to appeal to young women in South Africa, breaking boundaries that seldom see the brand beyond the borders of the kids’ clothing section.

The decision to extend the Barbie following to a slightly older age group comes on the eve of the brand’s 59th anniversary celebrations.

“Barbie is no stranger to breaking boundaries,” says Tina Fouche, Business Manager Soft Lines at Blue Horizon Licensing. “She’s been a fashion leader since her launch almost 60 years ago, and remains as popular today as ever, boasting one of the world’s fastest growing Instagram accounts – @Barbiestyle, which is currently sitting at a whopping 1.4 million followers.”

Barbie broke more boundaries last year when the doll hit the shelves in a variety of skin tones, hair textures, and body types – to better represent a more varied reality. The stereotype-shattering Fashionista range now includes four body types (the original and three new shapes – petite, curvy, and tall), seven skin tones, 22 eye colors, 24 hairstyles and countless on-trend fashions and accessories.

“Barbie is a strong feminist fashion icon. She is – and always has been – unapologetically all girl. She has done it all, always looking absolutely fabulous, and in heels to boot,” says Fouche. “We have no doubt that this collection will appeal to the girl in all of us,” she concludes.
